Submit an AGU 2022 Abstract

The call for abstracts for AGU Fall Meeting 2022 is now open!  Submit an abstract by 3 August for AGU22.

We are pleased to announce the SnowEx-focused session at this year's AGU gathering.

Session Title: C039. Using NASA SnowEx Data for Algorithm Development and Modeling to Estimate Seasonal Snow and Snow Water Equivalent

With climate change threatening norms for seasonal snow, the NASA SnowEx campaign aims to improve global snow remote sensing and enable snow satellite mission development for determination of snow water equivalent (SWE).  More accurate and timely estimates of SWE are needed to quantify global water and energy balances and improve meltwater and natural hazard forecasting.  The community-led SnowEx effort is conducting multi-year, multi-sensor seasonal snow campaigns, targeting different snow classes to collect a range of coincident in situ and remotely sensed observations.  The overarching objective is to enable snow satellite mission development by quantifying the SWE retrieval performance of candidate approaches through observations and modeling.  We invite contributions on results and developmental milestones from collaborative efforts using the publicly available SnowEx data.  We encourage submissions that compare coincident datasets, or investigate sensor capabilities and limitations across a variety of spatial and temporal scales.
