AMS 2024 snow session

AGU 2023 session | Using NASA SnowEx Data

Body

C041 - Using NASA SnowEx Data to Advance Global Snow Observations through Remote Sensing, Algorithm Development and Modeling

NASA SnowEx is a multi-year effort to improve snow water equivalent (SWE) and snow-surface energy balance characterization through extensive, coincident airborne and field-based measurements.  The goal is to determine an optimal approach for monitoring snow, to identify pathways to accurate space-borne snow measurements, and to enable the fusion of remote sensing, modeling, and in-situ observations.  Advancements in remote sensing capability combined with modeling efforts, will yield a next-generation snow satellite mission concept, and demonstration of a global snow monitoring strategy.  In 2023, SnowEx completes the series of community-led snow campaigns that took place across a range of climates and snow conditions to optimize instrument testing and comparisons.  We invite contributions on results and developmental milestones from collaborative efforts using the publicly available SnowEx data.  We encourage submissions that compare coincident datasets, or investigate sensor capabilities and limitations across a variety of spatial and temporal scales.

SnowEx Virtual Meeting

Body

There will be a SnowEx Virtual Meeting on September 11 & 14, 2020. The objectives of the meeting are to share SnowEx results and to update the NASA snow community  on recent THP-Snow discussions and future plans.  There will be a plenary session and discussion period (perhaps broken up into 2 or 3 sub groups) that will be followed by oral and poster sessions.  Details of the meeting format and agenda are TBD.  Please register via Google Spreadsheet.

Please note the following important dates:

August 14th - deadline to enter a title or topic of your presentation onto the registration sheet

August 28th - deadline to register for the meeting

September 4th - meeting agenda will be posted on the workshop agenda page

EGU General Assembly 2019

Body

The EGU General Assembly 2019, taking place in Vienna (Austria) on 7–12 April 2019, will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences.

The 76th Annual Eastern Snow Conference

Body

The 76th Eastern Snow Conference (ESC) will be held at the Lake Morey Resort, Fairlee, Vermont, USA, 4 - 6 June 2019.  The scientific program is open to sessions on theoretical, experimental, remote sensing, modeling and operational studies of snow, ice, and winter hydrology.  The ESC has only a plenary session (oral and poster viewing), allowing time to view and discuss the research of each participant. You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or a poster presentation (please indicate type). Using the template available from the conference website, an abstract of 200-250 words should be submitted by 15 March 2019 to the program chair:
